Ever wondered how a little sunshine can boost your computer's performance? Believe it or not, environmental conditions like temperature can significantly impact machine health. In this guide, we'll walk you through setting up a data source to import weather data into FojiSoft, allowing you to monitor and optimize machine performance based on real-time weather conditions. By incorporating weather data into your FojiSoft analysis, you can gain valuable insights and potentially improve machine longevity and efficiency.

Add a Weather Data Source

  1. Log into your Foji account
  2. Access Data Sources under Integrations in the Settings application
  3. Click the New Data Source button
  4. Select the Weather Observations (United States) provider from the list under Cloud. You may also find it using the search box.
  5. Complete the Data Source Fields
  6. Click the Create button

Data Source Fields

Field Description Required?
Name Descriptive name which will identify the location in the metric and log data Y
Maintenance Schedule Select an optional maintenance schedule to define times when the data source should not be imported. N
Folders Use folders to support organization of data sources. See Data Source Folders for more information N
Scan Interval Interval on which the updated weather data should be imported Y
Address Physical street address of the target location. Ex: 123 Somewhere Rd N
City City in which the target location exists Y
State State in which the target location exists.

Note: Weather data source support in FojiSoft is currently limited to the United States.

Y
Zip Code Zip Code for the target location Y

Metrics

The weather data source will import some or all of the following time series metrics for the target location.

Metric
weather_dewpoint_fahrenheit
weather_elevation_feet
weather_heat_index_fahrenheit
weather_precipitation_1hr_inches
weather_precipitation_3hrs_inches
weather_precipitation_6hrs_inches
weather_pressure_barometric_psi
weather_pressure_sea_level_psi
weather_relative_humidity_percent
weather_temperature_fahrenheit
weather_temperature_max_24hrs_fahrenheit
weather_temperature_min_24hrs_fahrenheit
weather_visibility_feet
weather_wind_chill_fahrenheit
weather_wind_direction_deg
weather_wind_gust_mph
weather_wind_speed_mph

Logs

The latest weather observation is recorded in the log data. This includes the entire observation object which may include other properties in addition to the derived metrics.

Weather Data Notice

The weather observation data is imported from the closet national weather service observation station to the target location. Due to this, some minor variations between the observed values and the actual weather at the target location may exist.
