Documentation for Integrating Google Analytics Data Source in FojiSoft

Overview

This documentation outlines the process of integrating Google Analytics as a data source within FojiSoft's platform. The integration enables users to retrieve and analyze data from Google Analytics, facilitating real-time insights and enhanced data-driven decision-making.

Configuration Steps

  1. Data Source Configuration
    • Name: Assign a descriptive name to the data source, such as "Google Analytics."
    • Folders: Optionally, assign this data source to a specific folder for organizational purposes.
  2. Connection Settings
    • Connection: Choose the appropriate connection type for Google Analytics. If it's not pre-configured, you may need to set up a new connection that authenticates with Google Analytics using OAuth or an API key.
    • Scan Interval: Define the frequency at which FojiSoft should retrieve data from Google Analytics. This is set in minutes and can be adjusted according to the data refresh requirements (e.g., every 30 minutes).
  3. Account Selection
    • Account: Select the Google Analytics account you wish to connect with. The account should be linked with the appropriate API access credentials.
    • Property: Choose the specific Google Analytics property from which data will be retrieved.
    • View: Select the view within the chosen property that you want to monitor and analyze.
  4. Data Retrieval Configuration
    • Dimensions: Specify the dimensions you want to include in your data pull. Dimensions such as "Adwords," "App Tracking," "Audience," etc., are available. These dimensions define the various attributes of your data (e.g., user demographics, traffic sources).
    • Metrics: Select the relevant metrics to analyze from the data. Metrics like "Ad Exchange," "Adsense," "Adwords," and others provide quantitative data points such as clicks, impressions, revenue, etc. At least one metric must be selected to retrieve data.
  5. Enabling the Data Source
    • After configuring all the above settings, ensure that the data source is Enabled by toggling the switch at the top of the configuration panel.
  6. Finalizing Setup
    • Review the settings and make any necessary adjustments.
    • Save the configuration to start retrieving data from Google Analytics based on the defined scan interval.

Best Practices

  • Data Integrity: Ensure that the Google Analytics account is correctly configured with all necessary permissions to access the data required for analysis.
  • Optimal Scan Interval: Choose an appropriate scan interval that balances the need for up-to-date data with the potential API usage limits imposed by Google Analytics.
  • Dimension and Metric Selection: Carefully select dimensions and metrics to avoid data overload and to focus on the most relevant information for your analysis.

Troubleshooting

  • Connection Issues: If there are errors in the connection, verify the API key or OAuth credentials, and ensure that the Google Analytics account has the required API access.
  • Data Mismatch: Ensure that the selected dimensions and metrics are compatible with one another as some combinations might result in errors or incomplete data.

This guide provides a step-by-step process for setting up Google Analytics as a data source in FojiSoft, ensuring a seamless integration that leverages the power of real-time data analysis.
