OPC Unified Architecture Metrics

From FojiSoft Docs

This documentation details the process of integrating a new data source called "OPC Unified Architecture Metrics" into FojiSoft's system. OPC UA is a machine-to-machine communication protocol for industrial automation developed by the OPC Foundation. This integration allows FojiSoft to monitor and manage data more effectively from various industrial devices and equipment.

Adding a New OPC UA Data Source

  1. ‍Access the Data Source Integration Panel:
    • Navigate to the FojiSoft platform.
    • Go to the 'Data Sources' section.
    • Select 'Add New Data Source'.
  2. Select OPC Unified Architecture Metrics:
    • From the list of available data source types, choose 'OPC Unified Architecture Metrics'.
  3. Configure Data Source Parameters:
    • Name: Provide a unique name for the data source. This should be descriptive and easily identifiable.
    • Maintenance Schedule: Specify the maintenance schedule for the data source. This ensures regular checks and updates to maintain optimal performance.
    • Connection (Dropdown): Select the connection type from the dropdown menu. This establishes the communication link between FojiSoft and the OPC UA server.
    • Scan Interval (Dropdown): Choose the frequency of data scans from the dropdown options (second, minute, hour). This setting determines how often FojiSoft retrieves data from the OPC UA server.

Adding Metrics to the Data Source

  1. Navigate to the Metric Configuration:
    • Within the data source configuration, locate and click the '+' sign next to 'Metric'.
  2. Configure Metric Parameters:
    • Name: Assign a name to the metric. This should clearly represent the data it will monitor.
    • Source (Dropdown): Select the source of the metric from the dropdown menu. This links the metric to a specific part of the OPC UA data structure.
  3. Adding Labels to the Metric:
    • Under the 'Labels' section, click the '+' sign to add a label.
    • Name: Provide a name for the label. This should be descriptive of the data it represents.
    • Value: Enter the value for the label. This could be a static value or a variable derived from the metric data.

Saving and Testing

  • ‍After configuring the data source and its metrics, save the settings.
  • Conduct a test run to ensure that the integration is functioning correctly and that data is being retrieved and displayed as expected.

Maintenance and Support

  • ‍Regularly review the maintenance schedule and update it as necessary.
  • Monitor the performance of the data source and metrics, adjusting settings as required.
  • For any issues or support, consult FojiSoft’s technical support team.
